Welcome to the New Leaf Academy private boarding school for girls ages 10 to 14 in North Carolina.
Our program offers a supportive, homelike environment and the finest education available. Courses are offered year-round, with the average length of stay lasting between 14 and 18 months. Within that time, each young girl and her family work together with counselors and staff in our unique StarSteps program.
Through the StarSteps program, each student comes to understand and take responsibility for her past choices as well as to appreciate her family and develop empathy and respect for others. As the girls and their families develop more effective ways of relating to one another, our students begin to turn their lives around.
When a girl enrolls at New Leaf, her parents join our community as well through active participation in counseling and seminars and by observing their daughter's progress at any time of the day or night through "Parent Checkin."
New Leaf Academy of North Carolina girls eastern boarding school is set on 68 acres of breathtaking hardwood forests in the world-famous Blue Ridge mountain range. This is a wonderful four-season resort area near the charming historic town of Hendersonville, whose downtown area is included in the National Register of Public Places. There are nearby rivers and waterfalls to explore, and areas that offer us a chance to hike, camp, ski, sled, rock climb, canoe and water-tube. The climate is perfect for tennis, golf, soccer, and other organized sports.
During her stay with us, your daughter will receive individual attention and nurturing care. She will study in small classes and receive counseling from staff sensitive to her situation and needs. Most students move ahead academically by one to four grades during their time at New Leaf Academy. The academy's highly structured environment with regular hours for classes, study and recreation enables students to focus and manage their time.
New Leaf Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) and the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) .

But sometimes, when a girl is overwhelmed by life's demands, that potential can be hard to reach. As peer pressure, social competition, family relationships, hormonal and physical development, media image and academic pressure begin to collide, they can create "the perfect storm" in a young girl's life. The result can be anger, frustration and doubt. When combined with personal obstacles such as social or emotional immaturity, family instability or academic challenges, she can reach a crisis point that requires a gentle, thoughtful, but unwavering response. This can mean the difference between channeling a girl's potential, or losing it.
